چکیده

This talk reviews three inputs important to neutrino-induced nu-cleosynthesis in a supernova: 1) " standard " properties of the super-nova neutrino flux, 2) effects of phenomena like neutrino oscillations on that flux, and 3) nuclear structure issues in estimating cross sections for neutrino-nucleus interactions. The resulting possibilities for neutrino-induced nucleosynthesis – or the ν-process – in massive stars are discussed. This includes two relatively recent extensions of ν-process calculations to heavier nuclei, one focused on understanding the origin of 138 La and 180 Ta and the second on the effects following r-process freezeout. From calculations of the neutrino post-processing of the r-process distribution, limits can be placed on the neutrino fluence after freezeout and thus on the dynamic timescale for the expansion.

Supernova SN1987A Bound on Neutrino Spectra for R-Process Nucleosynthesis

The neutrino driven wind during a core collapse supernova is an attractive site for r-process nucleosynthesis. The electron fraction Ye in the wind depends on observable neutrino energies and luminosities. The mean antineutrino energy is limited by supernova SN1987A data while lepton number conservation constrains the ratio of antineutrino to neutrino luminosities. If Ye, in the wind, is to be ...

It has long been suggested that fission cycling may play an important role in the r-process. Fission cycling can only occur in a very neutron rich environment. In traditional calculations of the neutrino driven wind of the core-collapse supernova, the environment is not sufficiently neutron rich to produce the r-process elements. However, we show that with a reduction of the electron neutrino f...

An overview of neutrino-nucleus interactions is presented. After a brief discussion of theory and applications of detector response three examples are discussed: i) Recent work on neutrino-deuteron reactions, ii) Probing strangeness content of the nucleon with neutrinos, and iii) The role of neutrino reactions in supernova dynamics and r-process nucleosynthesis. Recent observations of solar 1),...

Two of the key issues in understanding the neutron-to-proton ratio in a core-collapse supernova are discussed. One of these is the behavior of the neutrino-nucleon cross sections as supernova energies. The other issue is the many-body properties of the neutrino gas near the core when both one-and two-body interaction terms are included.
